About Us

A few words about our practice

Established in 1955, the heart of our business has always been to offer the best possible individual eye health care and personalised advice. Traditional values of taking time to explain your eyesight and giving you our honest opinion are the cornerstone of our business.

From the very beginning our commitment has been to invest in eye care technology and just over 30 years ago Gordon Turner Optometrists was one of the first practices in Surrey to offer retinal photography to our clients and since 2012 the OCT retinal scan technology.

Today our practice is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and software to ensure the services we provide remain at the forefront of technology.  In June 2019 we were the first optical practice in the UK to take delivery of the new Topcon Maestro 2 OCT retinal scan incorporating OCT-A technology (angiography of the retinal blood vessels), ensuring that both consulting rooms are each equipped with OCT technology. In 2021 we added the Medmont Corneal Topographer to our suite of equipment and more recently at the tail end of 2022 the Myopia Master, a biometer to measure axial length of the eye.

We offer NHS eye tests and comprehensive Private eye examinations for both glasses and contact lenses to maintain your optimum vision and ocular health as well as more specialist advanced examinations and aftercare at the request of ophthalmologists and laser surgeons.

Our Experience

Our Optometrist Ross Turner is fully qualified and registered with the British College of Optometrists and the General Optical Council and has many years of clinical experience examining the vision of patients and advising them of their eye care options. Ross is committed to continuous training and professional development in the field of optics to ensure that his knowledge and expertise is up to date. In recognition of his experience, new products and materials are made available to our practice for him to trial out before they are introduced to the British market.

Our qualified Dispensing Opticians are also registered with the General Optical Council, their professional training allowing them to dispense to children and adults. They are available to assist you in choosing glasses from our extensive range of designer frames to all-in-price frames and to advise you on the latest technology in lenses and coatings to suit your prescription.

Recommendation Freedom

As an independent practice, we have complete freedom to recommend and prescribe the most appropriate product to suit your eye care needs. We are not tied to a restricted range of lens types or manufacturers and as a result we are in a unique position to offer you a solution that best meets your visual requirements without compromise or limitation of choice.

Please call us on 020 8642 0563 if you would like to book an appointment or alternatively you are very welcome to call in at the practice at 71 Station Way, Cheam.
