Happy New Year!

If your resolution is to improve your general health, then why not start with your eyes and eye health and protect your precious gift of sight.

Schedule an Enhanced Eye Exam

Keep up to date with your eye examinations. Regular eye examinations ensure you are wearing the proper vision correction and check that your eyes are healthy. Our Enhanced Eye Exams incorporate using 3D scanning technology allowing for a more detailed look at the health of your eyes.

Any Vision Changes?
If you notice any changes in your vision before your scheduled eye examination, book in an earlier appointment.

Know your Family’s Eye Health History
Familiarise yourself with your family’s eye health history and let your Optometrist know any relevant information.

Genetics play a role in many eye conditions or vision conditions so knowledge is power.  Eye conditions including glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration tend to run in families.  Vision problems in otherwise healthy eyes such as myopia (short-sightedness) and hyperopia (long-sightedness) can be hereditary as well.

Well Fitted Specs
Ensure your glasses are fitting well. Our Dispensing Opticians are specially trained to fit spectacles and will be able to adjust the frames for the best fit and make sure that you are looking through the centre of the lenses.

Reduce Screen Time
If you spend a lot of time at the computer, follow the 20-20-20 rule to give your eyes a well-earned rest and relieve some of the strain screen time puts on our eyes. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Think 20:20:20.

Improve your Diet
Eating a good diet can contribute to your eye health. A balanced diet is the best way of ensuring your vision is the best that it can be and give yourself the best chance against eye disease.

Wear Sunglasses
Over time, exposure to UV light can cause cataracts, skin cancer and damage to the retina. To protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, wear good quality sunglasses when outdoors.

Small, simple changes can make a huge difference in your ocular health so make 2024 the healthiest year yet for your eyes.
