We’re proud to be supporting Love Your Lenses Week – a campaign dedicated to getting people talking about contact lenses and encouraging compliance.
Contact lenses change lives for the better – but safe contact lens wear is essential to maintain your eye health as there is a small but real risk of developing eye infections when aftercare advice is not followed.
If they are looked after properly and good hygiene practice are followed, contact lenses are safe. Regular review appointments with your eye care practitioner are advised to ensure your eye health is maintained. For example, did you know you should have a contact lens check every 12 months, or more often if necessary?
Ask yourself these three questions, each time you wear your contact lenses:
Do my eyes feel good all day long with my lenses in? — no discomfort
Do my eyes look good? — no redness
Do I see well? — no unusual blurring with either eye
If the answer to any of these questions is no, leave your lenses off and consult your eye care practitioner immediately, who will advise you on what to do next.
Contact lenses have changed millions of people’s lives for the better. They are simple, convenient to use and many wearers feel they offer better and more natural all-round vision than spectacles. They are an effective way to see clearly and comfortably while wearing a mask too as they do not fog up.
So, if you love your eyes, love your lenses and follow the Do’s and Don’ts of Contact Lens Wear.
Remember, if you’ve not had your eyes checked by a registered optometrist in the last 12 months or you wish to enquire about your suitability for contact lenses, book an appointment today.
