Many of us take good vision for granted, giving little thought to the factors that contribute to poor eyesight.  We want you to have healthy, happy eyes so here are our 3 tips to get you started on the journey of looking after and supporting your eyes.

Eat smart
Following a healthy lifestyle and eating a balanced diet is important for our eye health – as well as for our general health.

Protecting your eyes starts with the food you eat.  Making healthier choices goes a long way towards boosting your eye health.

A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and vitamins C and E may help to reduce your risk of vision problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. These eye-friendly nutrients include citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables and oily fish.

Quit smoking
If you smoke, try to get some help to stop.  Smoking can increase your chances of developing conditions such as cataract and macular degeneration.

Keep fit and healthy
It’s tempting to stay indoors when the weather is cold outside. Regular exercise is essential to stay fit and healthy and contributes to maintaining good eye health.

Vision problems and eye disease are a risk factor of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  A healthy diet and regular exercise are two of the most important steps you can take to lower both and look after your eyes.
