Our focus this Christmas is on raising funds for Seeability, a local charity based in Epsom providing specialist support, accommodation and eye care help for people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss.

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK and has pioneered specialist support for over 200 years.

The charity works to ensure people with learning disabilities receive the eye care they need.  Their research suggests that four out of every ten pupils in special schools have never had a sight test, even though children with learning disabilities are 28 times more likely to have serious sight problems than other children.

Since 2013 Seeability has carried out sight testing and dispensing glasses to children in a number of special schools throughout the UK.  This specialist eye care creates an opportunity for those with poor eyesight to have their vision corrected and thus the opportunity to learn, communicate and feel more confident.

Why not pick up one of their leaflets in the practice to find out more, place a donation in the donation box or read some of the inspiring life changing stories which can be found on their website

This wonderful charity is more than just giving better vision, it is about transforming lives for the better.
