ROSS TURNER - PROPRIETOR/OPTOMETRIST
Staff

I qualified as an Optometrist in 1983 having studied Optometry and Visual Science at City University in London.

With over 30 years' experience in Optometry my interest in the profession started from a young age as my father was an Optometrist running his own independent practice, in fact this very practice. He was always an inspiration and I learnt a huge amount from him in the provision of care of patients and their visual needs.

I enjoy all aspects of Optometry with a keen interest in complex clinical cases.  The sense of sight is fascinating but also very complex. As the world of optometry is constantly developing with new technology, I continually invest in the latest diagnostic equipment so as to be able to provide detailed clinical information about your eyes and their health. My experience in clinical investigations and assessments for ocular diseases, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts and myopia control ranges over many years.

I also have a particular interest in taking referrals for patients requiring specialist contact lenses including Keratoconus and Orthokeratology. The satisfaction of being able to help clients see so much more clearly is enormous. Over the years I have been invited by leading contact lens companies to participate in discussion groups and to take part in new product trials before the lenses are introduced to the British market.

Outside of the practice, I have previously been Chairman of the Surrey Optical Society and Secretary of the Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth Local Optical Committee as well as having spoken on our local radio station on eye health care.

I first graduated in Chemistry (1998) and later in Optometry (2007) from City University, London.

My experience spans across working in optical practices and in private hospital optometry. Having worked for a group of leading surgeons in Harley Street and also being the principal optometrist at a private eye hospital, I have been involved in the full range of ophthalmology services including cataract, age-related macular degeneration, corneal disease, retinal disease and refractive surgery.

These skills have allowed me to train pre-registration optometrists in clinical practice and to give presentations at Optometry Conferences.

Working in an established independent practice, I continue to develop my clinical interest in a variety of areas particularly in dry eye management and looking after the vision care needs of my patients.

Our commitment

As part of our commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, our Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians all undertake an enhanced CRB/DBS clearance.
